I have never seen the film "Downfall," about the last days of Adolf Hitler. It's apparently well regarded. I was interested in watching it one day, because I've certainly seen Hitler's rant as he discovers the Russians are about to enter Berlin a hundred times, via Youtube satires.
"Hitler Gets Banned From Xbox Live."
"Hitler Learns Sarah Palin Is Resigning As Alaska Governor."
"Hitler Learns Someone Has Already Made A Downfall Parody Video."
Etc. I'd be willing to bet that most people who rent or watch Downfall do so because their curiosity is piqued by Hitler parody videos.
No more. It appears Constantin Films, the maker of Downfall, has gotten many of the most popular Hitler parodies removed from Youtube. Oddly enough, most of the takedowns happened yesterday, April 20th. Which happens to be Hitler's 121st birthday.
Talk about shaving off your mustache to spite your face.
Update: Hitler responds. At least some Nazis have a sense of humor.
"I f***ing HATE cats."
