From our friend South Bend 7:
How do you conclude that the state has generated crummy legislation regarding marriages, but is going to create really great rules when it comes to health care, or education, or agriculture, or industrial policy?
I'll happily grant you a consensual marriage to any adult you wish. I'll even send you best wishes on your marriage, if you post a comment about it here. Just let me have my cigarettes, bacon, and dirty books in return. Let me degrade myself, let me kill myself, in peace. If you have advice about why I shouldn't do it, or more efficient ways of doing it, I'm happy to hear it. Just let me ignore you if I disagree.
The problem, as Democrats and Republicans view it, is that the right people aren't making decisions for everyone else. The problem, as I view it, is that people are so arrogant as to think that they should make decisions for everyone else, whether those decisions are right or wrong.
