I started to write a long spiel about my current difficulties at work (long story short, the ED is slowly taking away my responsibilities and giving them to others.) but then I realized that all I seem to blog about anymore is sad or depressing things (except Poutine, of course…) So, I am going to start looking for another job less than a year after taking this one. There are many good things happening in Ezra-land, and I should write about those…
My brother and I are having an absolute ball playing Warhammer Online together. I am even considering starting up a second character to try another race now that I understand some of the MMO conventions. It has been a lot of fun to play with him, and the game is incredibly well done. The art is very evocative of the game world (the Chaos Wastes are especially freaky, as befits them I suppose..)
I had an incredible birthday. 22 people I love showed up to play minigolf. It was astounding. Easily 10 more people than I thought would show up. To see so many of my friends (some making the difficult, and much appreciated, effort to be there with young ones) together laughing and having fun was a wonderful birthday present.
I have very recently started dating a wonderful woman. Well, ok, one date with another tomorrow. Still, things are going very well. It's fun to be in the excited early stages of dating, where everything is new, and you both laugh about various firsts. It's also interesting to be *ahem* older and dating, because you cut right through some of the juvenile BS.
After a few months off, I started playing basketball again, and feel pretty good about how I am playing. My conditioning sucks (and I don't see that changing appreciably. Heh..) but my passing is good, and I am even making some baseline jumpers to keep my defender honest. It's a nice way to spend a couple of hours on Sundays.
There is an incredible glut of good games coming out. I could not be more excited for Fallout 3. I might even take a day off just to play it. I haven't decided yet. I am currently playing the Witcher, and really enjoying it. The shades of grey decisions are great. You never feel like you are the golden hero, instead you are hoping that you make the choice that hurts the fewest people. It's a game that is also really fun to roleplay.
Halloween is coming up, and me & some friends are going to The Pirates of Emerson, a full pirate themed haunted house. It's definitely from the jump out and chase you school of fear, but they do such a good job with the theme, that it is totally worth it. I am also going on the flashlight tour of the Winchester Mystery House. It will probably be somewhat hokey, but I think it's a cool idea having only the tourguide have a flashlight. Should be fun!
I could write here about boardgames, the great weather we are currently having, how absolutely hilarious the new Order of the Stick book, and 40 other great things going on in my life. All far more important than my issues at work. It's time for me to change to my tone.
