Longtime readers (at least those not under court supervision) will know that I am not a great fan of reality television. The Amazing Race (and my dark never before admitted shame – an unhealthy love of the Real World Road Rules Challenge) is pretty much it. Except for the Mole. For whatever reason, the Mole has always been a guilty pleasure. I have watched every series (even the sad, sad Ahmad Rashad days…) and always enjoyed it.
The show returned this Summer, and was as creative as ever. Other than the Amazing Race, no other show has as clever challenges. The premise is simple, one of the contestants in the show is a mole, hired by the show to sabotage the players, and try to make them fail tasks. This leads to rampant paranoia, and (strangely) everyone trying to convince everyone else that they are the mole.
So, tonight is the big finale where we find out if the Mole is genial, bumbling fat guy Craig, strangely obsessive soccer guy Mark or the Queen of Bedside Manner, a surgeon I would not want to have work on me, Nicole. Of the 3, Nicole is the most obvious choice (which pretty much rules her out), Mark would surprise me, just because there were several games where he could have cost the group more money than he did. If he is the mole, he was very subtle. Craig is my pick. He's a genial big guy (sort of like Season 2 Mole – Bill.) Still, I would be a little sad if it turned out that Craig's medical problem in one challenge was "mole tactics.."
I'll definitely be watching tonight.
