Dr. Lily Von Marcab is dismayed that the Church of Scientology, which still venerates founder L. Ron Hubbard as its founder, and as a prophet and messiah, refuses to disavow Hubbard's racism and homophobia:
What is surprising is that in the year 2008, the Scientology cult continues openly to embrace Hubbard's extremely offensive statements, and refuses to make even a small gesture to repudiate or reject Hubbard's hateful views.
Von Marcab goes on to list, in excruciating detail, what those views were, as well as to catalog some of Hubbard's more colorful statements (or "higher teachings" if one prefers).
But I find her criticism, in this case, rather silly given the numerous more immediate problems that Scientology presents. Evidently an extortionate, litigious, thuggish mind control cult is one thing. But an extortionate, litigious, thuggish mind control cult whose D.W.M. founder had less than progressive ideas about gender identity, sexual preference, and race? Beyond the pale!
Still, if it stops just one person from paying for that first auditing session, it's all to the good.
