Scott McClellan is becoming a curious folk hero to the Left right now. His sudden urge to tell the truth (which to me is highly mitigated by his 6 year binge of doing just the opposite) is being grasped at as we look for any further way to kick Shrub while he is down. I just don't feel like joining in.
Now don't get me wrong, I welcome the chance to kick Shrub any and every time. I just can't join the chorus of "see, Scott is saying it now." What suddenly changed in this sad little man (who once decried "tell all" memoirs)? Is he just trying to sell some books (hint: Yes!) or does he genuinely want to change and feels these issues should come to light? (hint: the opposite of Yes!)
McClellan seeks to use the "bunker mentality" excuse to explain why he has all of a sudden seen the light about the gang of crooks he was running with. It just doesn't ring true to me. Maybe it's because of the disingenuous way he ran press briefings, with a scared look and an air of flop sweat, dodging questions clumsily. This is a man whose job is to lie (or at least omit facts) and that is not going to change. He can talk about a "higher loyalty" all he wants, this is one liberal who ain't buying it.
