One of my partners practices in subrogation, which is the term used when an insurance company pays its insured for damage the insured didn't cause, then tries to get its money back from the responsible third-party. Most of his cases are against insured defendants, so it's really just insurance companies squabbling over who owes how much to whom. But he does try to collect from uninsured defendants too.
And, to that end, he just suspended the driver's license of a certain complaining witness in a certain criminal case that achieved a certain level of notoriety in or near Durham, North Carolina a couple of years ago.
I wonder what her book rights would be worth?
