http://www.thefump.com/fump.php?id=93

Chorus:
I don't mind the text sometimes, the images it shows.
Running from the Ds and Ls, and killing all the Os.
Faded prints and subtle hints and fortune cookie lies.
You never ID all your stuff, until your @ sign dies.

worth the buck

IMHO, valks are a good class for noobs. It's what I used in my first (and only) ascension. They get the fast intrinsic pretty early on (lvl 7 I think) and mojllner is nifty first gift.

Other friends of mine recommend priests - auto detect bless / cursedness of all items.

Maybe I'm just an old unix geek, but I think the console ascii version is still the way to play. If nothing else it will teach you the vim keys (keypad's for wimps)
