I Can't Believe Cheney Didn't Think Of This…

Politics & Current Events

For a man who can't even properly pronounce the State he governs, Governor Schwarzenegger can be quite articulate. Recently, he went through a great deal of trouble to release a statement on why he was not signing a non-descript bill, AB 1176, relating to the Port of San Francisco. The bill was put forth by Democrat Tom Ammiano, who, when Arnold showed up at a Democratic fund raiser, stormed out, suggesting Arnold could (and I quote) "kiss my gay ass."

So, perhaps there was some bad blood there. Bad blood that seemed to seep it's way into the Governor's message. On first reading, some of the prose seems a little forced. Then, someone noticed a special message spelled out by the first letter in each sentence. Coincedence? The Governor's Office claims it is.

I think you meant the first letter on every line, not sentence. Still, a very…. er… strongly worded letter… or lettered word maybe?

I have written the "For some time…" letter, with 7(!) short paragraphs appearing on one page. It's a lawyer's trope.

And Schwarzenegger's is not an unfortunate coincidence. The letter always begins with "For some time…"

Maybe it was on purpose, but proving it would be hard as hell.

    And I lol'd.

D'oh! You are right Packratt. As Popehat tradition demands, I will leave my error to show just how smart I really am. But I did mean first letter of each line.

The world has gone crazy. If half the stuff going on right now was written in a book, people would laugh at it for being so unrealistic.

First on every line – To I for unnecessary care kicks yet overwhelmingly unnecessary.

First from every sentence – To I for water yet in

I don't get it either way.

Tim. It's the first letter and only the body of the message is considered.

"F.Y." sometimes also rendered as "F.U.," and sometimes even spelled out in all its 7 letter glory.

I hope that you did get it, that it's just my trollometer malfunctioning today.

By they way, this was a great find and a great minimalist post Ezra. You let the letter and the comments (and the witty caption) do the talking rather than explaining it to death.

Actually, I like it better if the "I" line is left in. Then it sounds like The Terminator is actually doing the talking.

He discarded earlier drafts that spelled out Yes/No, Go Away, Or What?, and Please Come Back Later.

Speaker of the House Karen Bass responded at a press conference, screaming "THAT SONOFABITCH STOLE MY PANTS! I was just standin here and…"

    Tim's funny.

Doh. I thought it was the first word, not the first letter… Now I get it, don't know why I didn't notice before.

Should have left it lay, Tim.

Believe me, there are thousands of Cheney's enemies looking over old letters as we speak.

    Mr Cheney,

For some time now, you have been shooting your mouth off about things that, up
until this point, have been better discussed by adults. I understand that your kind
can not understand the difference between right and wrong, but beleive me, your
karma will catch up with you someday.

Young people everywhere used to look up to leaders in this country for guidance
on moral issues. But after the unethical things you have done, it will be some time
until America can once again be a beacon of liberty for the world.

Did you not realize, or did you not care that you were trampling our freedoms as
individuals in your quest for power? How could you not have known? It was pure
carelessness then, a total lack of empathy and understanding for others for you to
kick sand in the face of the world.

That's harder than it looks, if you want it to make even a little sense.

Dammit, you moved my lines over!
