If Ralph Lauren Sues Everyone Into Poverty, Maybe We’ll Be Skinny Enough To Fit Into Ralph Lauren Jeans.

Culture

If you have a blog, you should republish this disgusting image:

ralph lauren photoshop skinny modelOf course only a pervert or otherwise depraved person would find this photoshopped model attractive (yes, her skull is wider than her pelvis), but publishing horrid images is hardly Ralph Lauren’s worst sin.  That’s a toss-up between the company’s continued encouragement of anorexia and bulimia, or the stubborn, unfounded litigiousness with which Lauren tries to prevent consumers from criticizing it.

While you’re at it, boycott Ralph Lauren jeans.

H/t: Overlawyered.

I’m so sorry — I can’t boycott Ralph Lauren. I never bought anything with that label (nor did wife). (Glum)

Also, please note that broads are supposed to be broad!

This image is horrific. It is obviously photo shopped around the waist, too. You can tell by the angles…

I think it is important to protect our girls from images of this nature. Teach them that beauty is about who they are and not what they look like.

I can’t really boycott, since the chance of Ralph Lauren producing a pair of jeans into which my ass can be squeezed is negligible. But I’ll boycott shirts.

It looks like a parody in and of itself; like some anti- anorexia organization made this and distributed it to show an exaggeration of what emaciated models look like.

Wow. – I assume it says something about how pervasive these images are when my first thought went like: “So, what’s wrong with her? That’s what pretty looks like.”
Even though I’m officially in recovery from AN/BN, I find it so hard not to think that she’s everything I ought to be. Especially on a day like this. (‘Beauty is who we are, not what we look like’ quite often has a ring as hollow as this girl’s cheeks. A lot of women have told me that tits sometimes get you further than wits – and it is discouraging that so often they’re proven right.)
So, yes, if I ever (and hopefully it’ll never happen) get skinny enough to fit my hips into jeans that would be a rather snug fit on an average ten-year-old, I will so boycott Ralph Lauren. Promise.

Gosh, my first reaction was that she looks like a Buchenwald survivor.

*shudder* That’s just all kinds of not right.

Yes, tits, which are what, 90% fat? This woman has the tits of a 12-year-old boy. That’s something that I don’t get: how these two contradictory “truths” can hold sway in a person’s mind at the same time–I need to be super skinny, and I need to have big bosoms. That doesn’t happen in nature, you know.

I would bet good money that if you took a poll of American men (and could get honest answers), far more would prefer a woman who looks like, say, Kelly Clarkson or Queen Latifah, than one who looks like this ghoul.

But then, the fashion industry doesn’t really cater to the heterosexual American male, now does it?

You can’t make a very good milkshake with skim milk.

I’m a whole milk kind of guy, and, well, my wife’s milkshake’s better than hers. Damn right, it’s better than hers.

Seriously, that picture is pretty disgusting.

No, she doesn’t Linus. You aren’t following the curves up top correctly. They have preserved her not de minimis chest but carved her waist to a pinpoint.

Wait – you mean to say people don’t actually look like this in the real world? Really???

Ladies and gentleman, may I present the first ever: human inverted pendulum!

as both a pervert and otherwise depraved person i am insulted that you think i would find this pic attractive (come on someone had to do that joke!!)

  14. Becky  •  Oct 14, 2009 @3:02 pm

wait… the BEST PART… This model was FIRED for being too FAT… She was practically OBESE at 120 pounds and 5’10″ (eye roll)! These people are INSANE!

I sent them a nasty gram already. Obviously, I am not fit to wear their clothes, nor is my husband or my kids. Thank goodness for Dove and their marketing honoring the real beauty of real women. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hibyAJOSW8U

I actually thought this photo was a joke, a satire on the ridiculously thin models that seem to be coming back. What happened to the Cindy Crawford type body; a fit, healthy, sexy look?

I hope you are watching CNN right now. Sometime between four and six pm EST there will be story on the Raph Lauren Boycott. :)
