My God, It's Full of FAIL

Effluvia

Spotted at Pat Buchanan's 2009 National Conference for his group The American Cause, which is devoted to, among other things, making English the official language of the United States:

conferenece

The extra "e" is for "exclude the immigrant hordes!"

Pity poor Pat. Anyone can have a moran moment.

    Isn't that just olde Englishe?

I have never really noticed Peter Brimelow before, but based on a quick check, the subtitle to that picture seems a tad tilted. I'm a pro-immigration guy myself, but I don't automatically associate the opposite position with racism.

I didn't even notice that caption, Paul, and didn't specifically intend to endorse it — it came with the pic.

I don't think strong opposition to unrestricted immigration is racist. For what it is worth, the wikipedia page (I know, I know) on VDARE has links to the back-and-forth between VDARE and critics on this issue. The Southern Poverty Law Center's justification for deeming VDARE a hate site, for example, or one of VDARE's responses.

No big deal. I assumed it just came with the picture source. I think I understand what's going on, namely that the VDARE site attracts fringe folks. Just thought it was interesting that they put his name and "racist" together without, strictly speaking accusing him of anything. I suppose if you're consorting with Pat Buchanan it just goes with the territory.

At one time I kinda liked Buchanan when he hosted Crossfire with Mike Kinsley. Actually voted for him in the 92 primary. Kinda regret that these days, but its hard to vote for anyone at all without holding your nose and hoping that maybe somehow your candidate's bad stuff will magically disappear.
