"Great Spirits Have Always Encountered Violent Opposition From Mediocre Minds"

History, Sports

In addition to the heroism, defiance, and tragedy at Tiananmen Square, today is significant as the anniversary of another illustration of humanity at its most raw.  Thirty-five years ago, on June 4, 1974, the Cleveland Indians hosted "Ten Cent Beer Night" at Municipal County Stadium.

Think of a birthday party at Chuck E. Cheese, on the hottest night of the summer, with seating for 25,000.  Only worse.
