It is a regrettable fact, for those who do business in college towns especially, that the places are infested with unwanted solicitors and cold callers.

    Having worked a telemarketing / cold-calling gig right out of college, let me assure you that the real hardcore salespeople ignore those signs. And if you scream, "Take me off your list!" over the phone at them, they will put you on the "do not call for six months" list.

    The only reason I got any sleep at night was because I wasn't very good at it.

    I have represented a lot of people accused of a lot of revolting things, and I can tell you I have never seen any clients treated with such universal disdain (and, frankly, indifference to rights) by government and courts as clients accused of civil telemarketing violations.
