I found it interesting that Bennett has a 6 year out clause in the Ford Center lease agreement if ticket revenues decline.. Apparently he wanted to bring a team to his beloved home town but isn't quite comfortable that it will survive.
I don't live in Seattle anymore so don't know this but is Seattle really missing the Sonics?
I don't live in Seattle anymore either. But I'd say "not really". Seattlites have perfected the "meh" response. If anything it's a small but intense minority. The Seattle Center renovation isn't doing very well with no anchor tenet though, I think.
However, if the team was actually halfway decent before they moved… then the reaction would be considerably stronger. As it is, the team was completely gutted with the intention of slumming around in Seattle with a shitty young team, only to move to OKC in TRIUMPH when all those draft picks start paying dividends. They moved to OKC a bit early, as you can tell.
