I Did Not Know That…

Politics & Current Events

Last month more US soldiers died in Afghanistan than in Iraq. Funny, you'd think something like that should be reported…

Oh, and now Afghanistan is suggesting that it might move troops into parts of Pakistan to try to fight insurgents (you know, the insurgents that Pakistan assures the US aren't there…)

At least we're winning in Iraq.

This is all part of the Get Osama Before I Leave Office finding.

If I may be so gauche as to reply to my own post, I also noted how Kharzai invoked the Bush Doctrine to justify Afghanistan sending soldiers into Pakistan. Ironically, when Pakistan was doing the exact same thing Kharzai was not so in favor of the notion. Still, it takes some chutzpah to use the rationale that has shattered your country to rattle sabers at a nuclear neighbor.

Ezra you're spending too much time on Planet Dan if you think that the Bush doctrine is what shattered Afghanistan.

It's also interesting but true that neither Obama or Hillary talked much at all about pulling out of Afghanistan and most polls indicate there is still strong public support for our involvement there. Plus, NATO is committed to that conflict as well.

My point is that most people differentiate whether we should be in Iraq from whether we should be in Afghanistan.
