He was a student at a university, and spent the bulk of the occupation in hiding and fighting the Japanese. Some of the stories he told were phenomenal. And yes, he pointed out that they got screwed by us in the end. Nicest old guy, was a professor of biochemistry in the Phillipines. You'd never have thought he fought the Japanese as a guerrilla for 4 years.
