Sometimes you should know better than to click on news stories that you know in advance are going to bother you. From CNN, the original headline was somewhat misleading "Drunken Driver gets 43 years for killing family". He didn't get the whole family though. A father and mother were traveling home after celebrating Christmas and had their six kids in the car. The 24-year old drunk driver was driving down the interstate in his pickup – in the wrong direction. He slammed into their minivan head on, killing the mother and four of the children. The father and two of the kids survived – if you want to call it that. I cannot imagine.

This is the paragraph that got me:

The minivan was rounding a curve when the truck came directly at the family. Both drivers tried to avoid each other, but the crash ripped open one side of the van, hurtling some of the victims into the road and scattering toys, stuffed animals and bits of gift wrap.

Simply horrendous. Michael Gagnon is 24, and will be rotting in a cell somewhere at least until his mid-60's. Good.
