Cyrus Sanai — Critic of Judge Kozinski — Has An Unpleasant Litigation History

Geekery, Law

Since we’ve devoted a lot of attention to Judge Kozinski’s recent rough education in computer security, it’s only fair that we offer more details about the ugly background of the lawyer who tipped off the press, Cyrus Sanai. Overlawyered has the quotes from some orders decrying Sanai’s vexatious litigation. He’s no hero in this story.

Edited to add:

Also, John Katz of Underdog has links to filings (including the recusal order) from the obscenity case over which Judge Kozinksi was to preside.

Not that Cyrus Sanai needs any help at this, but Patterico (who’s proven that one motivated and talented blogger can outperform big media on an individual story) has printed correspondence with Judge Kozinski’s wife Marcy Tiffany here that adds context that’s been lacking from the LA Times version of the story. Both the Times and Sanai come out of it looking pretty bad.

And the LA Times, adding insult to its own injury, shot itself in the mouth over the weekend.

Depends who called you a vexatious litigant, did you also know that vexatious corrupt and or imept Judges are using this power of declaring someone vexatious to silence them. How do we know that Cyrus Sanai is not a victim of Judicial Obstruction of Justice.

I know because I’ve read the various opinions describing his vexatious and bizarre conduct. The class of people who think that vexatious litigants are actually heroes suppressed by an evil judiciary is coextensive with the class of people who will most benefit when we start putting Thorazine in the drinking water.

Someday I am going to publish a study tracking the correlation between nutty opinions and inappropriate capitalization. I’ll be a famous millionaire. Men will want me. Women will fear me.

    And it’s Samurai. Good God.
