Bill Harris at Newsweek On Armageddon Empires

Gaming

Major congrats are due to friend and blogger Bill Harris of Dubious Quality, who has scored a monthly guest column at Newsweek's gaming blog, Level Up. Here's Bill at Level Up talking about Armageddon Empires, an indie post-apocalypse turn-based strategy game that deserves attention in its own right. I haven't played the game yet, but Bill's reviews have put it on my short list. Kudos to Bill.

It's a shame a certain site is down when it gets a freakin' pimpjob in Newsweek:
"So instead of creating your own forums, you posted in general gaming forums. Did you post pre-release, or did you wait until the game was available?

I was mostly a lurker at a lot of places. My three most frequent watering holes were Quarter To Three, Octopus Overlords and The Wargamer. I'd always love seeing a post titled "Any good turn based strategy games coming out?" The conversation on gaming forums was something that reinforced my decision to try and pull off making an indie TBS. "

Grab the demo. You'll know pretty quickly whether you're interested in the full game or not. AE also has remarkably short games – you can play through them in an hour or two, so it does well as filler.

I'm guilty of playing and enjoying the demo without purchasing the full. Finding the author give propz to OO and Qt3 makes me feel angry at myself.
