China has decided to go ahead with one of the last legs of the Olympic Torch Relay in June. It will be in Lhasa, the capital of Tibet. I can't imagine anything could possibly go wrong there.

One of the more interesting aspects of this whole Olympics mess is how openly prideful Beijing is being. They have no interest in backing down on anything, and wonder why no one can see that they are right. They just aren't interested in succeeding, they are shoving it in everyone else's face and telling the world to suck it. China has Napoleon Syndrome.

In his latest news analysis for NPR, Ted Koppell has an interesting take on the whole thing. I agree with him, but wish I didn't. I also wish Koppell would at least sound like he disapproves of the actions of the Chinese government, but he sure doesn't. I also think his argument that in Capitalism no country would invest in a 3rd world country that is unstable is dramatically wrong (I'm looking at you oil rich African countries!) In fact, I think one could argue that countries are more likely to invest in those nations (or at least that is the historical trend…)

OK, I went far afield there. To summarize: China is a dick.
